Rising Afro-fusion singer and songwriter Adedayo Eedris Mustapha, professionally known as YODA, has officially released his highly anticipated debut EP titled You Only Die Alone (YODA) — a deeply personal six-track project inspired by real life, travel, and the rhythmic heartbeat of Afrobeat.
Born in Kwara State, Nigeria, and a graduate of the University of Bradford, UK, with a BSc in Information Technology with Business, YODA draws on his rich experiences across continents to craft a sound that is authentic, relatable, and layered with meaning. Now based between Lagos and the United Kingdom, YODA continues to push boundaries as he works on new projects that promise to expand his signature Afro-infused style.
"First and foremost, all glory to the Almighty for keeping me alive and blessing me with a second chance to pursue what I love," says YODA. "This project is more than just music — it’s a blueprint of my Afro-fusion sound and a reflection of my journey. It captures a decade of lessons, highs and lows, and growth. I’m grateful to finally share this piece of my story with the world."
You Only Die Alone features six vibrant tracks:
Baddest Girl — An anthem for confident, unstoppable women hustling and thriving, inspired by the Bonnie and Clyde energy that keeps love wild and real.
Fly — A tribute to the freedom and clarity YODA finds in travel, encouraging listeners to explore the world and deepen connections.
Balance — An ode to the power, grace, and impact of women in all forms, celebrating the strength they bring to every aspect of life.
No Delay — A feel-good, club-inspired track urging listeners to seize the moment when it comes to love and connection — no second-guessing, no delay.
Commot — A raw reflection on the need to protect one’s peace and set boundaries when love turns into pressure.
No Drama (Lai Lai) — A personal favourite for YODA, this track channels his no-drama philosophy, highlighting the balance between peace and strength when faced with life’s conflicts.
A fitting proverb captures YODA’s perspective: “Let the crows talk, let them peck — you don’t have to respond. Conserve your positive energy and keep soaring higher.”
With You Only Die Alone, YODA invites listeners into his world — an honest soundscape of beats, emotions, and stories that echo the essence of Afro-fusion.
